My Morning Happiness Rituals

My Morning Happiness Rituals

– Scroll down for English version –

Happiness and mental health is the Danish population’s greatest health challenge today. Being happy does not happen automatically, but it requires an active effort from you. As most things in life, happiness, health and a slim waist is not a result of, for example, excluding one particular food, but it is about little daily habits. It is what we do every day that really makes a change. Therefore, I make sure to do something every day that promotes happiness and mental health. I call it my happiness rituals. Today, I share with you my morning happiness rituals that kick off my day with energy, a big smile and healthy, balanced hormones.

Why it is important to be happy

Who does not like to be happy? Besides it feels good, happiness is also very important for your overall health. Like regular exercise, and a healthy and nutritious diet, your mental health is essential to your health, well-being, fat burn and life expectancy.
In my view, happiness is a symptom of your health. The presence of well-being, happiness and laughter are all signs of health. Do you experience depression, fatigue and stress, also if you eat a lot of carrots and do a lot of exercise? Then I will say that you’re not healthy. In that case I would rather call you what I refer to as “unhealthy healthy”. Read more about this HERE.
A happy person is in balance both mentally and physically. When you are happy, all your bodily processes works optimally and you will experience a prettier skin, better fat burn, better digestion, better immune function and much much more.
Once I was “super-healthy”, did a lot of exercise and ate a lot of healthy food. But I was not healthy or looked that way (read more about this HERE). Therefore, I have now learned to prioritize happiness in my healthy lifestyle. Today, I am convinced that happiness is the reason why my hormones are balanced and healthy and that I am healthy from head to toe. Today I’m truly healthy, I am happy healthy.

My morning happiness rituals

NB! I want you to know that “my happy morning”, which I am about to tell you about, is not something I am able to do every day. If I get in bed too late, sleep too long etc. I am not able to go trough all of my morning rituals in time. But I make it a high priority and I try as far as possible to make time for my morning happiness rituals. They make a world of difference to my well-being for the entire day. Therefore, I do succeed with this morning most of the weekdays. 🙂
7 am: The alarm clock rings. I get up, put on some comfy clothes, drink a glass of water with lemon juice plus a glass of water with two spoons of psyllium husk.
7.05-7.20 am. I do 15 minutes of yoga in my living room. There are plenty of great videos on youtube for this.
7.20-7.30 am: 10 minutes of meditation. I mostly use guided meditations for this. I can recommend the app Headspace if you have just started on your meditating practice (not sponsored).
7.30-8.00 am: I stay in my comfy clothes while cooking my breakfast. I enjoy my breakfast peacefully. Often I enjoy my breakfast while watching the Danish Morning show (I know, TV while eating is not “mindful”) but I just think it is such a cozy thing and I enjoy it a lot.  So, it is mindful to me. 😉
8.00-8.30 am: I get in the shower, put on my clothes and make myself ready for work.
I need one and a half hour for this morning. It is important that I have enough time to avoid producing too many stress hormones already from the beginning of the day. I know that most people think it is impossible to do all this in the morning. Sometimes it is for me too, but it is “only” a matter of getting in bed early enough. Sleep is the MOST important factor to our health, and if I do not get my eight hours of sleep then it is healthier for me to stay in bed a bit longer than getting up to my morning rituals.
But when I do get enough sleep I LOVE my morning happiness rituals. Best way to start my day!
Do you have any morning rituals then I would love if you would share them with all of us in the comments below. This way we can help and inspire each other with more happiness. And maybe you should try my morning happiness rituals tomorrow? I look forward to hearing from you what you think about it.
And remember to follow me on Instagram. Tomorrow I will go through my happy morning with you on the Instagram story. See you there!
