Over-Thinking Kills Happiness and Health

– Scroll down for English version –

At have negative tanker er helt normalt.
Få 12 gode råd til mere mindfulness i hverdagen HER.

– ENGLISH –

How often do you find yourself thinking about the past or the future? Do you have certain expectations and ideas about how your future and life should be like? Such thoughts tend to increase and fill your entire mind and head and typically they lead to concerns, worries, uncertainty, doubts, anxiety and will ultimately remove happiness from your here and now. Negative thinking does not only feed bad but eventually it can make you sick.

What are you thinking right now?
We all have thoughts all the time. We can never stop thinking. There, thoughts have a huge impact on how you feel. You really are what you think. Thinking about the past, the future, expectations and perceptions can quickly lead to concerns, doubts, uncertainty, anxiety, sadness and depression. Nevertheless, negative thinking removes joy from the present moment.
Over thinking and negative thinking is very normal. Back from the days when we lived in nature, our brains are designed to start focusing on the negative. In order to survive it was important first to take note of any potential threats such as a dangerous animal, before looking at some beautiful flowers in the woods. This strategy, however, is less appropriate for us today. We are rarely met with a dangerous animal or another life threatening situation. It is, of course, common sense though, that one must reflect thoroughly before making a big decision. But because of our brain’s design we often end up reflecting too much in life in general. We reflect so much that it affect our happiness and quality of life.
Life and happiness is HERE and RIGHT NOW. We cannot control the future anyways and we will most likely end up spending a lot of energy, worries and fear about something “that might could happen some day” but it the end does not. That is a shame and waste of energy and happiness. We have to trust that the future, however it may evolve, will be just alright. Otherwise our lives quickly ends up quite uncomfortable.
Negative thinking not only removes your happiness and well-being in the present moment, but they affect your whole body and your health too. According to Bruce Lipton, American stem cell biologist and PhD, our beliefs and thoughts affect our bodies all the way down to the cellular level. In his opinion, our thinking has a great impact on the development of illness even. The good news is that positive thinking, on the contrary, creates a life with happiness and health. Positive thinking boosts your immune system, your fat burn and hunger, just to mention a few effects. Your thoughts create your life and your world. That is why it is so important that we do not fill our head with too many of the negative ones. Remember, you have thoughts – you are not your thoughts. This gives you the ability to change your thought for the better.
“What can go wrong?” Instead try asking yourself “What can go well?”
One of the most effective ways to remove negative thinking is through mindfulness and meditation. When you are able to be fully present in the moment, you are able to learn how to think what you want to think and feel how you want to feel. Get 12 tips for more mindfulness in everyday life HERE.
