Lack of enjoyment is unhealthy – it can make you sick

Du kan leve ih og åh så sundt, men hvis du ikke nyder, så er du faktisk slet ikke sund. Nydelsen er ofte det første, der forsvinder, når man beslutter sig for at gå på slanke- eller sundhedskur. Engang var jeg selv ikke i stand til at nyde i mine bestræbelser på den ‘perfekte’ sundhed og krop. Det gjorde mig usund! I forlængelse af mit interview med Per Brændgaard (kan I læse HER), som fortalte os om vigtigheden af at nyde, da deler jeg her min personlige erfaring med ikke at nyde, og hvorfor det er SÅ vigtigt at nyde.

Set i bakspejlet var min livsstil alt andet end sundt – tværtimod endda! Tænk engang, alle de gange hvor jeg har kæmpet mig forbi bageren, fordi alt i min krop skreg efter en nybagt bolle, når nu jeg netop havde besluttet, at brød skulle være forbudt!
Jeg havde gjort kosten til min fjende og min krop til en byrde…
Jeg behandlede på den måde ikke min krop eller mig selv godt. Mine bestræbelser på at være ”super sund” fjernede meget nydelse. Min tilgang til sundhed var alt for bevidst og kontrolleret, og den udsprang af, at jeg mistede min far som 19-årig (læs mere om dette HER). Det handlede aldrig om, hvad jeg havde lyst til, men snarere om, hvad der ville være sundt og godt at spise. Men ved at frarøve mig selv nydelsen, så var det “sunde valg” i sidste ende slet ikke sundt – tværtimod.
Er man ikke glad, så er man ikke sund.
Mangel på nydelse er usundt
Jeg har prøvet det på egen krop. Tankenvækkende er det, at dengang jeg levede “super-sundt”, og hvor gluten og mælk var forbudte fødevarer i min kost, da følte jeg mig ikke glad, manglede energi, oplevede hårtab, PCO, udeblevne menstruationer – og så heller ikke sund ud (læs mere om dette HER). Det skyldtes ikke mindst, at livsstilen fjernede glæde. Jeg kunne aldrig rigtig nyde et stykke kage uden at fortryde, skamme mig eller føle mig usund eller tyk..
Der findes ingen fødevarer, du kan spise, som er ligeså skadelig og usund for din krop, som den mængde stress, du skaber i din krop ved at holde igen og afskære dig fra nydelse
Når du fjerner nydelse, skaber du stress i din krop, og du fjerner dig selv fra at lytte til dine reelle behov, som kan medføre, at du spiser for lidt/for meget/forkert osv. Derudover, hvis du fjerner nydelse, så fjerner du også glæde. Glæde ER sundhed (læs mere om dette HER)
Hvordan lærte jeg så at nyde igen?  
I dag er kage og chokolade en del af mit liv igen, og jeg har endda flottere hud og stråler meget mere. Sundhed og skønhed handler tydeligvis om andet end, hvad man spiser. Sundhed handler om, hvordan du har det.
Det var selvfølgelig ikke en ændring, jeg var i stand til at opnå på en enkelt dag. Men alt har en start. Har du svært ved at nyde noget usundt og give slip så start med at minde dig selv om, at nydelsen (uanset om den er usundt eller ej) faktisk er SUNDT for dig. Fokusér på nydelsen. Vær til stede i den. Når du virkelig nyder den, opnår du hurtigt at få tilfredsstillet din lyst, og på den måde vil de, der nyder, opleve ikke at ende med at spise hele kagen. Fokuser på at du gerne vil være god ved dig selv. Du vil gerne behandle dig selv godt og give din krop lov. Den forjener nydelse og føle det godt.
I dag er jeg bevidst om at give min krop al den kærlighed, som den fortjener. Jeg er taknemmelig for, at den bærer mig rundt hver dag uden smerter eller besvær, og det vil jeg gerne have, at den kan blive ved med i lang tid endnu. Der er intet, jeg gør forbudt overfor mig selv, og jeg er bevidst om i høj grad at handle ud fra lyst fremfor pligt. Det er virkelig ren sundhed for kroppen og alfa og omega for humør og livskvalitet. Det er fantastisk at opleve, hvordan en mere afslappet indstilling belønner sig med en mere velfungerende krop.

Jeg behandler min krop med kærlighed, og den svarer igen ligeså. Slut med ustyrlige cravings og evige tanker om mad, hvad og hvornår…

You can be just as healthy as you want but if you never truly enjoy, then you’re not healthy. Enjoyment is the first thing that disappers when you decide to go on a health- or weight loss diet. Once I was not able to enjoy in my strivings for the perfect health and body. It made me sick unhealthy, really. In continuation of my interview with Per Brændgaard (read it HERE), who told us about the importance of enjoyment, I here share with you my personal experience with no enjoyment. I also explain why enjoyment is SO important.

In retrospect my lifestyle was anything but healthy – it was unhealthy! And just imagine all the times I had to fight my way past the bakery, because everything in my body screamed for a freshly baked bun, now that I had just decided to ban bread from my diet.
I made my diet my enemy and my body a burden …
I didn’t treat my body or myself well. My strivings for “super health” took away enjoyment. My approach to health was too controlled and it all started at the age of 19 when I lost my dad. My way of dieting became a way for me to control all the difficult emotions inside of mere (read more about this HERE). I never ate what I wanted to but always what was healthy and “good” for me. But without enjoyment it did not matter how healthy the food was, it would never be healthy this way.
If you are not happy you are not healthy.
Lack of enjoyment is unhealthy
I’ve learned it on my own body. It says a lot that when I was “super healthy” and never touched gluten or milk I did not feel happy, had little energy, suffered from PCO, hairloss and did not look healthy (read more about this HERE). This was because of too little enjoyment and happiness. I was never really able to enjoy a piece of cake without regret, shame and the feeling of being unhealthy and fat.
No kind of food is more unhealthy than the effects of stress in your body caused by regret, shame and too little enjoyment.
When you remove enjoyment you create stress in your body and you remove yourself from your inner needs. This can make you eat to little/too much, wrong food etc. Furthermore when you cut out enjoyment you remove happiness. Happiness IS health (read more about this HERE)
How I learned to enjoy and remove uncontrollable cravings and eternal thoughts about food, what and when 
Today cake and chocolate is an important part of my healthy life. And I experience prettier skin and more energy eve. Health and beauty is obviously about more than just your diet. Health is about how you feel.
Of course I was not able to make this change over one day. But everything has a start. If you have troubles to enjoy and let go remind yourself that true enjoyment actually is healthy for you. Focus on the enjoyment, let go. When you really enjoy you will more quickly feel satisfied and you won’t end up eating too much. Focus on treating yourself good and with love. You want to treat yourself body nicely and let it feel god. It deserves enjoyment.
Today I give my body all the love it deserves. I am grateful that it carries me around every day without pain or difficulty, and I like to be able to do that for a very long time. There is nothing I’ve made forbidden to myself, and I’m aware of acting on desire rather than duty. I give myself permission to enjoy. It is pure health and a necessity for mood and wellbeing. It is amazing to see how a more relaxed approach to health has rewarded me with a much better functioning and more healthy body – and mind.
I treat my body with love, and it responds equally. Get rid of uncontrollable cravings and eternal thoughts about food, what and when.
